DIY | Winged Eyeliner - The Easy Way
This is a tiny tutorial for your basic winged eyeliner. The problem most beginners have with applying winged eyeliner is that they try to do it all in one go. Splitting it into steps and doing both eyes at the same time means you are less likely to mess up, and more likely to get symmetrical looking eyes.
The most important thing to remember is that practice makes perfect, and that this way isn’t the only way. I think it’s a pretty easy method for learners but if you find a better way feel free to use it!
Any questions?
Hope you find this a little helpful,
- Holly

While rubbing in the oil, start preparing a bath with nice warm water. When your body is oily and your bath is ready, lay there for at least 15-20 minutes, massaging your skin and rubbing in the oil more and more. After the bath, you can wash off the oil with soap and water, but you can also simply use a wet towel. After this bath, it’s better to go straight to bed. 5. Last night:

Was the dress rehersal for our school play ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’, which I’m doing the make up on.

I didn’t take pictures because it was the first time I’d done any of the actros/resses make up.

Tonight I pla to bring my camera and take pictures.

There will be old ladies, men and mustaches, one lovely young fiance, and one horrifically scarred face.

    Shiny- Hair Mask: Strawberry Cream

Take away the dullness and lifelessness from your hair using natural, gentle, acids found in strawberries. The hair mask will leave your hair shiny-looking and glamorous in minutes.

    What you need:

    • 8 strawberries
    • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise (natural deep conditioner)
    • warm towel

    Directions:

Mash strawberries and mayo with a fork until completely blended. Apply mask to damp, clean hair; then cover your head with a shower cap (or grocery bag). Apply a warm towel over the cap/bag (either soak one in hot water, or put one in the dryer while making the mask). The heat allows the mask to penetrate your hair shaft, just like a sauna does for your pores. Rince with shampoo and conditioner.

My personal note: I know from when I was little, that mayonnaise is a lice repellent, so that’s a bonus… Not that any of us have had lice since elementary school- but still! I didn’t want my hair to smell even faintly of mayo, so I put a few drops of essential oils I got from B&BW. Black Amethyst is my favorite for this because it is strong. Just 2 or 3 drops was enough.

    Oily-Hair Mask: Lemon Yogurt

Have oily hair? It’s hard to achieve that bouncy fun hair, but, with this mask, it’s possible. Use this mask once a week to soak up that stubborn, dulling oil while leaving your hair silky and shiny.

    What you need:

    • 5 tablespoons of plain yogurt (moisturizes without oils)
    • 1 tablespoon of baking soda (absorbs oils on your scalp)
    • 2 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice (absorbs oils on your scalp)

    Directions:

Mix yogurt, baking soda and fresh lemon juice in a bowl. Apply mask to hair, specifically concentrating on the roots. Leave in for 40 minutes, then rinse with cool water. Use the mask once a week to control oil.

My personal note: bottles lemon juice works just as good, so you don’t need to actually squeeze a lemon for this… I have brittle hair because of how much I used to dye it and straighten it… I noticed that this makes my ends kind of dry. I used a deep conditioner (olive oil and honey) on the tips and they were good as new. The deep conditioner is 3tbs olive oil, 1tbs honey.

    Dry-Hair Mask: Banana Smoothie

Banana smoothies are not just for drinking! This shake has natural moisturizing ingredients so this concoction will leave your hair silky soft in minutes.

    What you need:

    • 1 banana (potassium softens hair shaft)
    • 1 egg (natural moisturizer)
    • 3 tablespoons of honey (natural moisturizer)
    • 3 tablespoons of milk (strengthens hair follicles)
    • 4 tablespoons of olive oil (deep conditioner)

    Directions:

Mash the banana, egg, honey, milk and olive oil in a bowl. Make sure it’s well-combined. Then apply to hair. Let sit for 15-30 minutes, then rinse out with a gentle shampoo.

My person experience note: I’ve found with this, that using a cheap body wash like Suave is great for rinsing it out. Make sure you use cold water, so the egg doesn’t start to cook in your hair.

    Do.Not.Ingest: Contains raw egg.

  10. Damn, druff.

Get rid of dandruff with the natural antiseptic properties in thyme! Thyme fights bacteria, which in turn gets rid of your flakes in a flash.

    What you need:

    • 7 tablespoons of dried thyme
    • 2cups of water

    Directions:

Boil the dried thyme with the two cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain the thyme out and apply water to clean, damp hair until hair is completely soaked. No need to rinse!:)

  13. More Home Tips (some repeats)

    • To remove puffiness from the eyelids, massage a drop of very fresh castor oil on to them.
    • To cool your eyes, make eye pads using thick slices of cucumber. Another option is to use cotton pads soaked in cold milk. Lie down and place them on your closed eyes and relax for a while.
    • Putting a drop of rose water into each eye just before you sleep can also refresh you eyes.
    • To prevent your lips from chapping, use hot water fermentation on your lips and then apply a mixture of vaseline and honey. Apply this mixture about three times a week.
    • To prevent your lips from drying you can use a ground mixture or rose petals and milk butter.
    • To delay age spots on your hand, use a piece of lemon and rub all over your hand, before washing. This will delay onset of age-spots.
    • If you have no time to shampoo your hair before going out, then brush 1 tablespoon of talcum powder or corn flour through your hair. Try this out first when you are not in hurry to make sure that it works the way you want.
    • To prevent hair loss you should have a biotin rich drink. Blend bananas with honey, yogurt and low fat milk. Drink this for a few weeks.
    • While blow drying and setting your hair, blow-dry at hot on the roots of the hair. Roll your hair inwards or outwards at the ends. To improve the setting make sure the ends are evenly rolled in or rolled out. Heat the hair for a second and then let it cool. This process of setting the hair will last longer and make your hair look beautiful.
    • To condition your hair, after shampooing your hair take some conditioner on your palm and rub it with both hands. Apply from the hair shaft moving downwards. Do not apply on your scalp. Rinse your hair after 5 minutes.
    • To add extra shine and glow to your hair add 2 tablespoons of malt vinegar. Use it as a last rinse and towel dry your hair.

  14. Lip liner tips

    Lip Liner

Lip liner can make your lips look instantly bigger, fuller and shapelier. It can serve as the perfect final touch for lipstick. It can also give the lips more definition and perfect the shape of your lips in a way no other makeup product can.

Picking out the right shade of lip liner is critical to ensure that you will get the best look possible. Try to choose a shade that matches well with your natural lip shade. If you must go a little darker then choose one that is only a couple shades darker than your lip color. Too dark of colors will make your lips unnatural and will appear as if you are trying too hard.

The proper application techniques are also critical to ensure that you get the best look possible. Follow the simple application steps below to ensure that you get optimal results:

    • Lipstick and lip liner should be the very last thing that you apply, so do all other makeup first.
    • Prep the lips for lip liner by applying lip balm. This will ensure that the lip liner goes on smooth.
    • Draw a slight line along the outer edge of the lips.
    • Make sure that the lip liner is only about one shade darker than your lipstick. Anything darker will look very unnatural and will really stand out.
    • Apply lipstick when you are satisfied with the way that your lip liner looks.
    • Blot lips to remove any excess color.

    Lip Liner Tips

    • Chill the lip liner in the fridge for a few minutes before you sharpen it. This will make process a lot easier and less messy.
    • Use a very light lip liner and pink gloss instead of lipstick to give the lips a fresh, young look.
    • Don’t wear lip liner before the age of 18.
    • Experiment with your lip liner! As long as you don’t go too drastic, anything goes!
    • At night, take lip liner off with makeup remover or petroleum jelly. Just simply washing your face will not get all the liner off, leaving you with very dry, chapped lips when you wake up in the morning.
    • Even though it is fun to experiment, don’t choose tones that are more than 3 shades darker than your own skin tone.
